In all honesty, homeopathy is easy enough that a committed learner can indeed internalize and embody homeopathy for acute conditions in a short amount of time—it all depends on how much time you dedicate to it. I admit that for moms, it can sometimes be a daunting task to do on your own.
That is why I like to teach an 8-class course called “Gateway to Homeopathy,” where I partner with Joette Calabrese to bring you into my world of independence and healing. I also partner with other homeopaths to bring you amazing homeopathy-based information right to your home. But let me give you a quick crash course on what homeopathy is right now.
Homeopathy was developed by Samuel Hahneman in the late 1700’s. He was a medical doctor who was shocked by the number of deaths occurring in traditional medicine. Perhaps blood letting, leeches, and mercury weren’t the best methods of treating sick patients ...
In a historical moment of illumination, Hahnemann made some connections between an herb, cinchona bark, and the symptoms it produces when one overdoses it. He learned that while large amounts of cinchona bark produces the symptoms of intermittent fever, if you take a much smaller amount (even a minute amount) of cinchona bark, it will cure a person who is sick and suffering from those very same symptoms.
Thus became the beginnings of the first law of homeopathy: like heals like. This means that whatever symptoms a substance produces in its gross/original form, it can cure that set of symptoms when the substance is diluted into a homeopathic medicine.
Let me give you an example: Let’s think of an onion. What symptoms does it produce in its gross/original form? In other words, what happens when you chop an onion? Or what symptoms would you experience if you perhaps bit into an onion?
If your response is watery eyes, egg-white runny nose, burning eyes/nose, and perhaps even sneezing, then you are correct! Now what illness produces those symptoms? Seasonal allergies? The common cold? Right again!
So the homeopathic remedy made from onion can actually cure those types of colds and allergies which produce the similar symptoms an onion produces. Note that in homeopathy we don’t use the common name of the substance. So instead of calling this remedy “homeopathic onion,” we instead name it by its latin name. So onion is named Allium cepa.
And there you have it. You just learned the first law of homeopathy.
So in a nutshell, when you are sick, and you want to use homeopathy to cure an illness, you select the correct homeopathic remedy that corresponds with your symptoms. The trick then is to learn enough about the remedies and to know the symptoms that correlate with each particular remedy. And there are thousands of homeopathic remedies.
Does it seem daunting? It can be, but trust me, I’m about as normal as they come. And if I could empower myself to learn this, so can you. It’s worth it to learn the basics because this system works WELL and FAST. I love my essential oils and my herbs, but nothing works as beautifully and quickly as homeopathy. I’m willing to bet my bottom dollar on that.
